DuoDrum's Separate Mixing Drum

Separate Drying and Mixing

For years, contractors have relied on inadequate all-in-one drying/mixing drums to fill the need for a high production facility. While they performed admirably, they were prone to environmental problems, inferior mix issues, and high maintenance costs. Dillman Equipment has addressed these issues by creating the DuoDrum. This design centers around a unique secondary mixing vessel. By separating the drying process from the mixing, we have totally eliminated the chronic production problems that face conventional drum mixers - no blue smoke, a totally homogenous mix and low maintenance requirements.

Patented Design

Aggregate materials are discharged from the dryer to the patented Rotovator™ . The unique Rotovator™ system minimizes the distance from the dryer discharge to the mixing drum inlet enabling the entire plant to have a lower profile then that of a gravity fed type system. Aggregate, RAP, liquid AC, and other additives are blended at this point with a series of four types of adjustable hardox paddles. Since these are adjustable flights, contractors can tailor retention times to their specific requirements creating superior quality mix. Since the blending process is totally removed from the heat source and the mixing drum is fully insulated, there is little temperature change vastly improving fuel efficiency. Any residual gasses are removed with a powerful volatile recovery system and reintroduced back to the burner for incineration.

Features

  • Patented Rotovator™ cuts down on material plugging and reduces the distance between the dryer and mixer for a lower plant profile
  • Completely insulated mixing drum for superior heat retention
  • Complete blending away from the heat source eliminated blue smoke and emission difficulties
  • Volatile recovery system reintroduces residual gasses back to the burner
  • High temperature non-metallic seals
  • Single point trunnion adjustment systems
  • Trunnion drive system provides sufficient torque to hot stop/start a fully loaded mixer
  • Oversized emission shroud reduces dust blowback
  • Superior shell thickness for longer operational life and lower maintenance
  • Easy access to mixing changer reduces maintenance and down time
